{"id":1754,"date":"2025-02-26T10:48:10","date_gmt":"2025-02-26T09:48:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.guideturistichepavia.it\/?p=1754"},"modified":"2025-03-01T03:26:36","modified_gmt":"2025-03-01T02:26:36","slug":"pavia-excellence-maria-corti-and-the-university-of-pavia-manuscript-center","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.guideturistichepavia.it\/en\/eccellenze-pavesi-maria-corti-e-il-centro-manoscritti-delluniversita-di-pavia\/","title":{"rendered":"Pavia\u2019s Excellence: Maria Corti and the Manuscript Center of the University of Pavia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Presentation AT THE PAVIA EST LIBRARY ON MARCH 8, 2025, AT 5:00 PM by NICOLETTA TROTTA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">I met <strong>Nicoletta Trotta<\/strong> by chance: she was one of the participants in one of my \u201copen\u201d guided tours in Pavia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">While walking, we started chatting, we discovered that we live not far from each other, there was an immediate connection, and as we talked about our activities, I learned that she has worked since the beginning of her career at the <strong>\"Research Center on the Manuscript Tradition of Modern and Contemporary Authors\" at the University of Pavia,<\/strong> and is currently <strong>Head of Cultural Heritage Enhancement at the university.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">The Manuscript Center is a Pavia-based excellence of international renown, which I have often mentioned to tourists during my guided tours! At the origin of the Center is another remarkable woman, <strong>Maria Corti<\/strong>, who was a professor at the University of Pavia and, in the late 1960s, had the idea of creating the <strong>Manuscript Fund<\/strong> of 20th-century authors, officially recognized in 1973.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">To the autograph papers of <strong>Eugenio Montale<\/strong>, those of Carlo Emilio Gadda, <strong>Alberto Arbasino<\/strong>, Italo Calvino, Mario Luzi, Luigi Malerba, <strong>Alberto Moravia<\/strong>, Natalia Ginzburg, to name just a few, have been added, reaching today a total of about two hundred author collections, containing thousands of handwritten and typewritten pages of literary works, letters, diaries, drawings, and photos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More than once, I have had the opportunity to visit the fascinating exhibitions curated by Nicoletta, where part of this invaluable material was displayed, which is, of course, also available to scholars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">It is therefore an honor for me to have Nicoletta at the library of my neighborhood, Pavia Est, on MARCH 8, 2025, to present the Archive, but above all its creator, <strong>Maria Corti<\/strong>, who was also a novelist.
