Following in the footsteps of what truly matters, with Saint Francis<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday, October 31, 2026<\/strong>, the Urban Trekking event \u201cPavia in Search of What Matters Most: Walking with St. Francis\u201d<\/strong> will take place in Pavia. It's an easy walk, suitable for everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tour will be conducted IN ENGLISH.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The departure is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. from Piazza del Municipio, 2<\/strong>, in front of the Pavia City Hall. The route will be about 5 km<\/strong> long and will take approximately 3\u00bd hours<\/strong>. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Route description <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Franciscan sites in the city will take us through evocative views to reach the remains of Santa Chiara delle Clarisse, which was a monastery of the female order founded by St. Francis<\/strong> and St. Clare<\/strong> in 1212. The Franciscan heart today is Santa Maria Canepanova<\/strong>, a treasure trove of Renaissance and Baroque art. A short walk will take you to admire the spectacular two-tone fa\u00e7ade of San Francesco Maggiore<\/strong>, which was the monumental seat of the Franciscan community in Pavia, and then on to the majestic Church of the Carmine<\/strong>, where laypeople lived in the spirit of the Saint with the Congregation of the Third Order of St. Francis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hike will move away from the center to recall the transformation of the 14th-century convent of the Reformed Franciscan Fathers into the Pio Albergo Pertusati<\/strong> and end at San Giacomo della Vernavola<\/strong>, which was a convent of the Observant Friars Minor. The Franciscan Saint Bernardino da Feltre<\/strong> lived and died here and is buried in the Church of Carmine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
